Ideological state apparatus- A shitty subaltern story

Toilets are technologies of power. They are not neutral, utilitarian architectures, rather they are highly contested spaces shaped by and which in turn shape the ways bodies and communities come together or depart - spaces that are defined culturally and articulated materially.

My project sought to accept the toilet as a way to grapple with the material experience of marginalized bodies: to name and interrogate the links between bodily elimination and those bodies targeted for elimination.
