Applying to GSAPP

Columbia GSAPP is committed to attracting the best talent from a wide range of geographic, cultural, and economic backgrounds, and employs a holistic application review process that considers multiple factors with the intent of creating a class enhanced by diverse voices. Applicants are considered for their academic merit, potential, and individual experiences, and are selected to shape the best possible educational environment in the School’s studios and classrooms for the student body at large.

The application for 2025 admissions is now available, and must be submitted by the deadline for consideration:

December 14, 2024:
PhD in Urban Planning
January 3, 2025:
Master of Architecture
January 9, 2025:
PhD in Architecture, PhD in Historic Preservation
January 15, 2025:
Master of Science degree programs

Applications for the non-degree programs Intro to Architecture and Shape of Two Cities: New York Paris are open and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Open House and
Grad School Fairs

GSAPP hosted a Prospective Student Open house in October 2024. Please see the Open House page for more information, and to view recordings of curriculum presentations.

Additional Admissions Info and Q&A Sessions are held throughout the fall until the application deadlines. GSAPP also participates in college fairs across the country. Please see links to upcoming events below and register online to participate.

Part-time Options

Columbia GSAPP offers part-time options for the MS in Computational Design Practices, MS in Historic Preservation, and MS in Urban Planning degrees. Specifically designed for active practitioners in the field who wish to maintain professional positions while studying, these options are based on the same academic requirements and allow students to complete the same degree over a longer time period.
