Adjunct Assistant Professor

Nadia Christidi is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Social Difference, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at GSAPP, and an arts practitioner. She holds a PhD in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society from MIT, where she studied how the future of water is being prepared for in cities facing water supply challenges that are intensifying with climate change. Nadia was previously a Doctoral Fellow with the Swiss National Science Foundation-funded project Governing through Design; a TBA-21 Academy Ocean Fellow in Venice, Italy; an Art Jameel Arts Research and Writing Resident in Dubai in the UAE, and a Delfina-FICA Research Fellow in London. Working across art, research, and pedagogy, Nadia has presented multimedia projects at Sharjah Biennale 16, Beirut Art Center, SALT Galata and Salt Ulus, Kunsthaus Hamburg, Jameel Arts Centre, and Ocean Space. Her projects focus on the sociopolitical dimensions of technological interventions into the environment and on technophilic and technophobic visions of the future. Along with Özgün Eylül İşcen, Nadia co-curated and co- commissioned works for Reclaiming Futures, a collection of creative projects that critically examine how design, architecture, and technology are imbricated in producing catastrophic eco-social realities but also present tools with which to imagine and build more equitable, democratic, and sustainable worlds. Nadia holds an MA in Historical Studies from the New School for Social Research and a BA in History of Art from Bryn Mawr College.
