Hubert Chang, P.E. is a Senior Project Engineer at Silman (TY Lin). With a broad portfolio of work worldwide, his involvement with architects has brought him to places where he can be an active voice and participant from the start of the design process. His portfolio of structural engineering work crosses a range of different scales and budgets, from art and sculpture work to adaptive reuse and multi-building complexes.
Over the years, Hubert has been involved in regular guest critic and teaching roles at GSAPP. He is passionate about advancing state-of-the-art architecture through engineering, and stays active in various organizations, building interdisciplinary ties in the built environment community and broadening the aspirations of the built environment.
Over the past 11 years, he has worked closely with architects on a wide range of project typologies, including cultural/community institutions, permanent and temporary installations, high-performance facades, adaptive reuse/historic preservation, and specialty residential. He is most excited to explore work that blurs boundaries between architecture, art, and engineering.
He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Columbia Engineering.
