Adjunct Assistant Professor

Nadine Maleh’s work, for the past twenty years, has been centered at the intersection of social justice and design. Her expertise includes community development and permanent supportive affordable housing. Currently, Nadine leads the Community Solutions Housing Systems team to align housing resources with those in need, center a housing placement system within communities, and to create housing typologies that support the needs of the community. This work is led by prioritizing people with lived experience and providing solutions based on this knowledge.

Nadine most recently served as the Executive Director of Capital Projects for the New York City Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice. In this role, she was responsible for NYC justice-related capital projects, including advancing plans to close the Rikers Island jail.

As a founding member of the Community Solutions team, Nadine spearheaded the organization’s efforts in real estate and community activation. Nadine has developed over 1,500 units of affordable and supportive housing in New York City and in low-income communities across the U.S. She was named a Curbed Groundbreaker in 2017/2018. She is a fellow with the Urban Design Forum and has been a design studio professor at the Parsons School of Design and Syracuse University and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP.
