Richard Leland

Richard G. Leland has been an Adjunct Professor at Columbia GSAPP, teaching the Fundamentals of Real Estate Law course in the M.S. RED program, since 2008. He has previously taught Historic Preservation Law, Land Use and Environmental Law in Real Estate Transactions at the Hofstra University School of Law and at New York Law School.

Professor Leland is a partner in the New York and West Palm Beach offices of Akerman LLP and has been a practicing attorney in New York for 50 years. He concentrates his practice in Environmental Law and Land Use as a transactional, regulatory and litigation practitioner. He has represented numerous developers and institutions in environmental and land use matters, including Columbia University in connection with the approvals for the Manhattanville Campus now under construction and Cornell Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island.

Professor Leland received a B.S. from Cornell and a J.D. the Hofstra University School of Law.
