Maria Alejandra Linares Trelles

Maria Alejandra Linares Trelles is an architect and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP. Her work focuses on design from a sociopolitical perspective, exploring themes around landscape, ecology, and identity through different formats, including publications, temporary installations, and curatorial projects.

She has developed research on explorer Antonio Raimondi’s cartographies of Peru during the nineteenth century and collaborated with the Buell Center’s project “Power: Infrastructure in America.” She previously served as Lead Designer for studio LLONAZAMORA in Lima, Peru where she was involved in institutional, residential, interior and landscape projects. In 2016, she was part of the team that designed the New Visitor Center for Machu Picchu Archeological Site as part of a larger State project to redefine tourism in sustainable ways for the country.

She holds a degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a Master of Science in Critical, Curatorial, and Conceptual Practices in Architecture from Columbia University GSAPP.
