Dear GSAPP Community,
Thank you for your commitment and diligence in adhering to the University’s enhanced health and safety policy. Now that the year is underway, below are a few updates related to GSAPP spaces.
Access to Campus The ReopenCU app will be fully linked to campus building entrances. If you are expecting to be on campus, be sure to complete all requirements so you do not lose access to campus buildings.
Cleaning of Studios and Classrooms The University has introduced enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. These include disinfecting high touch surfaces in classrooms, studios, and public spaces twice daily, electrostatic cleaning or disinfecting using a fogging agent weekly, and additional inspections of public spaces twice daily. A complete list of the enhanced cleaning protocols can be found here.
In addition to the above referenced University initiative, GSAPP has also enhanced the protocols for student use of studios and classrooms. Hand sanitizers and wipe dispensers have been installed in classrooms and studios. Students and faculty are to wipe down their immediate work area in classrooms and studios before and after each use. This includes desktops and tabletops, keyboards, computer mice, writing tablets, etc.
Studio Models Desk surfaces are to remain free and unobstructed to allow for enhanced cleaning. Students in Advanced V may store small models in clear plastic bags on the studio shelves in 600 and 700 Avery Hall. Students in Core I and Core III may store small models in clear plastic bags in room 504 Avery Hall. Students are asked to use plastic bags to protect models from disinfecting and/or fogging agents that are regularly applied. For questions related to student small model storage protocols, email Mark Taylor at mt156@columbia.edu.
Please continue to monitor the GSAPP COVID-19 Resources page for updated information.
Thank you once again for your efforts and commitment to the health of our community, and please feel free to email me at ds89@columbia.edu with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Danielle
