The project is a network of plug-in communities spread along the Hudson River, using oil barges as an obsolete moving infrastructure to configure a series of floating and moving buildings that integrate living, working, and leisure programs, that will be sailing and anchoring all along the rich milieu of the river. The project proposes to replace the oil trade of the river with a new network based on communal life, local product economies, and cultural interaction. The infrastructure is designed to allow working on different crafts, arts and materials, ranging from almost the immaterial such as media, sound or video, to large and heavyweight pieces that use complex machinery to be produced or transport. The floatation strategy allows the project to react to the most recurrent flooding due to Global Warming and at the same time, by replacing the oil industry, it will permit the recovery of the river ecosystems.
