The idea is to generate a structure that responds to issues and problems that convey the needs of children and the elderly. These two vulnerable populations can thrive and benefit from each other in a space that both resolve specific characteristics for each generation and also mixes them together to maximize the benefit of the intergenerational encounter. The project is an intergenerational day care center and hosts multigenerational housing that is surrounded by an external geometry that creates privacy but with the intention of generating a sense of community by a degree of transparency.
Two main volumes that contains specific activities surround intergenerational playgrounds that work as sharing spaces for the children and the elderly. The intergenerational central spaces move upward connecting the day care and the housing, creating collective areas in which young families, children, and elderly can interact.
