After extensive research on the use of yards in indigenous African architecture, this project aims to create a university building that not only fulfils the programmatic needs of the Akilah Institute, but also offers public spaces for the education of the whole community. The new university is conceived as the combination of three distinct typologies and forms: a planted yard with circular rammed earth volumes; an uninterrupted curved concrete slab; and a monolithic brick volume.
