A true gender-aware workspace doesn’t establish rules that may limit users’ gender identities. The Wing’s woman-only policy caters to a widespread danger of the feminism movement: the movement is creating a new privileged class rather than fighting for equality. The danger becomes sharper when a kind of aristocratic yet monotonous interior is combined with a one-gender-only rule. A system that’s open to every identity and also creates a sense of comfort for each user should be encouraged. This project combines a grid of gradients with a lighting system that includes natural light, artificial light, and different colors in each room. Entering rooms becomes an adventure, passing through other rooms is more important than entering the original destination. In the process, every identity is possible.
