The New Arch

Project by Juyeon Park

This project started from transcribing the existing building to suggest new types of design, structure or programs through the contemporary perspective of the modern era. Based on the concept that the ultimate value does not change over time, the DNA from SANAA’s Toledo glass pavilion has been revitalized, and it is hidden inside the ceiling as a roof structure. Even though it’s invisible, the human spirit can notice what’s happening above one’s head with its innate natural intuition. This belief visualizes the information that only intuition can decode from our imagination into new types of structure, especially as an arch shape, which could suggest new design applications in the architecture field in combination with technological development and intuition.
