Ghosts of Traces Past, Memories of Futures Stranger

Through my work I’ve been exploring traces of memory as a mode of construction.

How these traces of other people, beings, lifetimes, and places across different moments in time can shape how we experience place. Bridging physical, liminal, emotional, and ephemeral space alike The project was explored through a series of meditations, explorations, and reflections that started in Riverside park and meandered out to its surrounding context. Drawings in the soil, pages and pages of writing, games to tease out memory, some simpler, some stranger.

The project culminated in a final meditation, learning just as much from the forest that runs along the river as the people who walk its paths. A final drawing, an interweaving of memory of the trees, childhood memories of friends, testimonies of the detritus, stories from strangers, and all the traces in between alike.
