Wind Wells

Trapped humidity in dense tropical urban environment, this project aims to elevate the pedestrian experience, atmospherically and spatially. Using Singapore’s Central Business District as a case study, this design implements strategies similar to wind catchers in the Middle East. A new facade system “wind well”, is configured to be integrated onto exterior walls of building cores. By utilizing building cores to regulate indoor and outdoor thermal comfort, buildings are able to provide service to the public realm, addressing the importance to regulate outdoor thermal comfort as much as indoor thermal comfort.
