The Porotic School exposes students to the unique constructed natural environment in the city.
The school is conceived as an extension of Sarah Roosevelt Park next to it. Built in 1934, Sara Roosevelt Park is a mix of natural and constructed landscapes. There are also all kinds of activities occurring in it during different times of the day. Similar conditions can be found in the porotic school. The horizontality of it, the arrangement of the space, and its spatial quality all correspond to the ecology of the adjacent park. As a container of nature and man-made construction, the porotic school can hopefully inspire students to learn from nature and better understand the unique urban environment that surrounds them.
