My proposal, focused on the creation of an interior economy within One Times Square, was conceived through the analysis of the anatomy of the human body and an octopus as a design metamorphosis. By investigating the movement and genetic material of these creatures, I created a case study that could be used to generate design iterations that responded to and engaged with existing structural conditions. I utilized this study in One Times Square, in both plan and section respectively and while working around the presence of a 3 level Walgreens, to generate the layouts of both a Walgreens-affiliated pharmaceutical research laboratory and nightclub, aptly titled ‘The One’. These two spaces would create a circular economy that would fund research aiding in resolving the opioid crisis, in which Walgreens has been held liable in court as a key instigator.
