Commoditized Warfare is a loudreading event of dissidence and emancipation that exposes MoMA’s ties to war, racist prison and border enforcement systems, vulture fund exploitation, gentrification and displacement of the poor, extractivism and environmental degradation, and patriarchal forms of violence. This project rejects the actions and investments of MoMA’s board or chairperson, and denounces and interrupts the coloniality that is embedded in modernity which manifests in MoMA, as well as other museums. While highlighting the colonization and co-optation of art in the service of colonial and imperialist crimes, it also stresses the idea that art should not be captured by oligarchs and capital, or assimilated into national myths.
