Travis Bunt

Presentation by Travis Bunt (‘10 MSAUD, '11 MSRED), Director, One Architecture + Urbanism.

Travis J M Bunt is the Director for One Architecture in New York, where he leads urban design and resiliency work for the Dutch firm in North America and Asia. Prior to joining One, Bunt was the Design Director for URBANUS in Hong Kong, where he led the design for architecture and urban development projects across China. In 2014, he was recognized by Perspective Magazine with a 40-under-40 award, in part for his role curating the 2013 Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, Hong Kong. As a former officer in the US Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps, Mr. Bunt has worked on military-led reconstruction efforts in post-Katrina New Orleans, mentored the Afghan Army on Regional Planning, and supervised the rehabilitation of the Navy shipyards at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Part of the UD Sessions event series organized by the M.S. Architecture and Urban Design program. In the evolution of the discipline of urban design, one of the most intensively discussed questions has been the definition of the discipline itself: What is Urban Design? Rather than a concrete answer, however, this series explores an expanded field of urban design through the lens of people who graduated from GSAPP’s Urban Design program in recent decades. Through their current work and a reflection of the ways in which their experience at GSAPP shaped their thinking about design, cities and politics, the series will open a dialogue about What Urban Designers DO?
