Water Urbanism – Urban Design for Climate Justice with Columbia University, GSAPP in the Climate Justice Pavillion in the Blue Zone at COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
Thad Pawlowski, Managing Director of the Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes at GSAPP, will share recent work from the Columbia University GSAPP Urban Design studio, which seeks to resist patterns of petrochemical urbanization by promoting locally-led adaptation planning and design visioning. Every spring, Columbia GSAPP students work with a community on the frontlines of climate change and local academic partners. This collaborative, co-learning experience results in shared urban design visions that have been used to shape policies and plans that promote locally led adaptation efforts with examples from Belize, Mozambique, Ethiopia and the Mississippi Delta. Thad will be joined in conversation by Fitse Gelaye from the Resilient Cities Network in Addis Ababa.
Organized by the Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes and the MSAUD Program at GSAPP.
